20
December 2006
Coming up to Christmas is a very quiet time for the Bangor
NISC with the Committee and members having other things on
their mind.
2007 will see an early start after the winter “close
season” as the Club will be holding an additional meeting
in January to firm up on details for the Bregenz trip. The
Club are pleased to announce that a double-decker coach has
been booked for the journey to Dublin Airport in order that
everyone on the Aer Lingus flight can travel down together.
Due to the limited “boot” space on this type of
coach, it is unlikely that there will be many spare seats
on this trip.
10
December 2006
At the December meeting it was decided that there was a need
for an additional meeting in the winter "close season".
Accordingly, one has been called for Monday, 15 January 2007
as there are still a few details to be sorted about the Bregenz
Club Trip for the Liechtenstein match.
The Club will also be issuing a commemorative polo shirt for
the trip and need to collect sizes for orders in January.
1 December 2006
The
last meeting of 2006 takes place on Monday, 4 December in
Pickie Bowling Club, Broadway, starting at 8:00. Further details
of the Bregenz Club Trip to the Liechtenstein match will be
announced.
Please note that only members without e-mail address would
have received notification by mobile text message this month.
This is due to the fact that Bt Yahoo have discontinued this
service and an alternative supplier had not been sourced in
time. Hopefully alternative arrangements will be in place
for this popular form of communication by next year.
24 November 2006
The
Club will be organising a Ballot as part of the Fund raising
for the Club trip to Bregenz. There will be some good prizes
and all members will be expected to sell their allocated quota.
Full details will be announced at the next meeting on Monday
4 December in Pickie Bowling Club. 24
November 2006
The Club have also announced that they will be commissioning
a new Polo shirt for the Club trip. The Committee are hoping
to come up with a logo that could include a NI crest, flags
of the countries being visited and the civic logos of Bangor
and Bregenz – not an easy task. If any members have
any ideas or graphic capabilities, don’t be shy to come
forward with suggestions – after all, it’s your
Club !
19
November 2006
The Club are pleased to confirm that they have secured
the Hotel Messmer in Bregenz as a base for the Club trip to
the Liechtenstein match in March 2007. As there are currently
96 travelling in the Club group, accommodation for 100 has
been booked to take account of any late bookings. Due to the
logistics of providing coach transfers to the match, this
number will not be exceeded.
For more information, see the updated Bregenz
page in the features section.
15 November 2006
There have been further developments
regarding charter flights to Iceland, and also Sweden next
year. The new mail from Jim Rainey reads :
Today I met with a Belfast travel agent who I'm hoping
will become the Amalgamation's Travel Partner for future trips
and your individual travel needs (more info once we have fully
discussed it at committee level.)
What I can tell you is that we will be able to offer charter
flights for the Iceland and Sweden away games. Both these
one-day trips will be leaving Belfast at 8.00am and will cost
*£249* which I think is excellent value considering
the cost of travel, accommodation and drink in these two countries,
not to mention the time required off work if travelling and
booking yourself!!
The plane we will be taking is smaller (148) as opposed to
my original email where I was getting a London-based plane
for 168 people at £285 per person.
I need a full plane for it to work and if we can't fill it
from the Amalgamation members, I will then advertise it elsewhere.
*Can you speak to your members and let me know how many (if
any) seats your club will want on the Iceland trip. I will
now need numbers by the next Amalgamation meeting on 28th
November.
A £50 per person deposit will be required by 16th December
to book your seats for the Iceland trip.*
Thanks, Jim
9 November
2006
Members will be pleased to know that negotiations
with North Down Council and their counterparts in Bregenz
are proceeding well and it is hoped to shortly announce the
details of accommodation for the Club Trip to the Liechtenstein
trip in March 2007.
The Club has also been approached by Jim Rainey with news
of a potential charter flight to Iceland for the match on
12 September 2007. The mail reads as follows :
Hi all,
With NI fans experiencing trouble getting from Latvia to Iceland
for the double header next September, the high cost of flying
from the UK to Iceland and the high cost of accommodation
in Rekjavik, I have explored the possibility of chartering
a plane.
I've got a price for a 167 seat Charter airplane, leaving
Belfast International Airport at 9.00am and flying to Iceland
on Wednesday 12th September 2007 and returning after the match.
The cost including in-flight catering will be £285.
I need to know if there is enough interest before taking this
any further.
If interested, email me at nifans@tiscali.co.uk by the 23rd
November 2006.
Cheers, Jim 3
1 October 2006
The next meeting of the Club takes place on Monday

24 October 2006
Still a few teething problems to be sorted out with the new
server but we're getting there. Please keep sending your contributions
in.
The Club are also expecting some more details about accomodation
for the liechtenstein trip shortly so plaes keep checking
the site.
21 October 2006
This website has been transferred over to a new server. Hopefully
visitors will have less problems than they have been experiencing
over recent weeks.
The opportunity was also taken to tidy up the files in the
site and hopefully not too many mistakes have been made.
New e-mail addreses will also be introduced shortly and hopefully
things will settle down over the next week or so.
19 October 2006
Some more photos have been added to the Denmark photos page.
Keep them coming. 15
October 2006
Picture
pages for both the Denmark
away and Latvia home matches
have been created at long last.
Some users are still experiencing problems logging onto the
site - hopefully this will be resolved over the next week
or so after the site is moved to a new location. In the meantime,
please be patient and accept our apologie.
10 October 2006
I think
it's fair to say that a good time was had by all in Denmark.
Due to all the exertions, a photo page has not yet been prepared
so there is still time for members to send in some photos.
Members should also note that the buses to Windsor for the
Latvia match will be leaving Pickie Bowling Club at 6:15 sharp.
26
September 2006
It has
been pointed out that some users have been having problems
accessing this site due to heavy traffic. As a result, it
has been decided to move the site to a higher specification
of server.
The Bangor NISC is happy to announce that Stephen Bailie,
Estate Agents will be sponsoring the new site.
As the move will take a few weeks (a trip to Denmark has to
be undertaken), anyone experiencing problems are asked to
bear with us in the meantime and keep trying if they cannot
get through. 26
September 2006
Bangor NISC website has introduced a new logo
which hopefully will meet with everyone's approval.
The logo will appear on all pages over time. This new image
coincides with a link to the site appearing on the "OurWeeCountry"
site.
The next meeting of the Club takes place on Monday, 2October
when hopefully all those travelling on the Club Trip to Bregenz
/ Liechtenstein will have an idea of who they will be rooming
with. 17
September 2006
In response to some reported problems about the display of
the website on web browsers other than Internet Explorer,
the layout of the website is being slightly altered to overcome
the problems. The changes will tyake place over the next few
weeks.
The possibility of replacing the existing banner at the top
of the page is also being investigated - anybody got any ideas
?
14
September 2006
Details are now clearer for the Club Trip to Bregenz / Liechtenstein.
There will be a total of 84 making the journey to the Alpine
Region, of which 4 will be Juniors.
Of these, 74 will be flying from Dublin to Zurich on Friday
23 March 2007 and the remaining 10 hardy travellers will be
making the journey overland.
Most fans will be returning on Sunday 25 March by various
methods - let's just say that some individuals will set foot
in no less than 6 countries in the space of 3 days !
The Bregeng page will be updated within the next few days
with more details and times. 7
September 2006
Some images from yesterday have been uploaded into Spain
Matchday Photos page.
The Club has also received the following message from the
Chairman of the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters
Clubs
Hi All
What a night, we couldn't have asked for a better end to a
truly great day for the Green and White Army. To win an award
for being hailed as the Best Supporters In Europe is a very
special feeling and it's a feeling we should all be proud
off.
As chairman of the Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland
Supporters Clubs i have been fortunate to meet some of my
heroes but being able to walk out at Windsor Park to the sound
of "Green and White Army", sung with the usual gusto
by the Norn Iron faithfull, as Jim Rainey was presented with
the award was a very special moment indeed.
I've known Jim since the Amalgamation was formed almost ten
years ago and having worked alongside him for the majority
of that time, i can vouch for the amount of hard work he has
put in to help create the fantastic experience that now goes
hand in hand with following Our Wee Country and i'd like to
thank Jim for all his efforts which has culminated in winning
this award.
None of what has been achieved would have been possible without
the sterling work from Michael Boyd, the IFA's Community Relations
Officer, who has been a great friend to the Amalgamation and
indeed all followers of Northern Ireland, thank you Michael.
Of course the Amalgamation would be nothing without a good
committee and we're fortunate to have a dedicated, hard working
and genuine group of people who deserve our appreciation.
Also the 61 member clubs should be commended for embracing
the need for change and helping to make the Football For All
project the great success that it has undoubtedly been.
Thanks must also go to two of the founding members, Gary Hancock
and Alex Steele, and also to the previous chairmen Stanley
Herron and Jim Price.
How fitting it was to receive the award on what turned out
to be a magical night at Windsor Park when we beat the mighty
Spain 3 - 2, the GAWA were fantastic as always with all four
sides of the ground in fine voice and i have no doubt that
the delegation from Brussels who presented the award will
have been blown away by the atmosphere in the stadium.
Thank you all, it's an absolute pleasure to be a member of
the Green And White Army who are quite simply THE BEST FANS
IN THE WORLD.
Regards
Phil Smyth
Chairman AONISC/GAWA

It's good to report that the attendance at the Black
Boat for the Finland match was better than expected, at around
fifty. The early kick-off had looked like putting a dampener
on things, but in the end it turned out to be a good afternoon.
Many thanks to the Black Boat for the half-time supper - we'll
have to do it again ! 9
