27 December 2007
Congratulation to Bangor NISC members Mark and Graham Bailie, Michael Sandford and Rodney Ferris who are part of the management team of Abbey Villa who won the Border Regiment Cup at Wilgar Park this afternoon.

22 December 2007
With Christmas almost upon us, Bangor NISC would like to wish all its members and the wider football community, a Peaceful and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

21 December 2007
Recent articles relating to the club that have appeared in local publications have been added in the Features section.

9 December 2007
It has been announced that the dates for the 2010 World Cup Qualifying Matches will be decided at a conference in Bratislava, Slovakia, some time in January 2008.
It has also been revealed that Northern Ireland are hoping to arrange friendly matches in the international free dates in February, March and August. The rumour mill has it that these will be Scotland (away), Croatia (home) and Italy (home) and that the summer tour to China will be a non-starter.
In any case, it looks like 2008 will be action packed !

5 December 2007
At the final meeting of 2007, a straw poll was held amongst those who attended to see what would be their favourite destination for a Club Trip in the 2010 World Cup Qualifying Campaign. The results were as follows :
Venue
%
Czech. Republic
18 %
Poland
14 %
San Marino
45 %
Slovakia
9 %
Slovenia
14 %

It was also decided that a meeting may be called shortly after the dates of the fixtures are announced to enable an early decision on a Club Trip(s) to be made.

2 December 2007
More photos from Gran Canaria have been added in the Spain Matchday Photos page. Don't suppose anyone would scan in a match programme and send it in. Also, did anyone take any photos at the recent Denmark match at Windsor ?

2 December 2007
There is a new addition to the Features pages where articles of interest to the Bangor NISC from the Bangor FC 'Seasiders' Matchday Magazine have been reproduced. The 2005 Articles and 2006 Articles pages have been completed. The 2007 Articles page has been started and more recent articles will be added shortly.

29 November 2007
The last meeting of the year takes place in Monday, 3 December in Pickie Bowling Club, starting at 8:00 pm. Among items on the agend is discussion of potential Club Trip(s) for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers.
Thanks also to the guys who have sent me in photos. In the Spain matchday photos there is a new one not to be viewed by those of a nervous disposition.
Below is a picture of ex NI manager Lawrie Sanches signing the latest book by Bangor NISC member Alan Ferris
.

27 November 2007
The first photos from the Spain away match in Gran Canaria have started to filter through and can be found in the Spain matchday photos.

25 November 2007
The draw for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers was made earlier today and Northern Ireland were drawn in Group 3 along with the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and San Marino.
From the Bangor NISC point of view, it means that all these countries have potential as the venue for a Club Trip as they are all reasonably accessible. It will be interesting to find out what would be the preferences for away trips amongst the members.

23 November 2007
So that’s it’s all over for another campaign. It will be interesting to hear what it was like in the Canaries – I’m sure all the members of the Bangor NISC who travelled out had a good time and hope they brought back some photos.
The draw for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers takes place in Durban, South Africa on Sunday, 25 November, starting at 3:00 pm. The members are looking forward to see what group Northern Ireland get drawn in. About an hour into the draw they will find out when the European section will be put in the spotlight.
The 53 teams in UEFA will be divided into nine qualifying groups - eight of six teams and one of five. The top team in each group will qualify automatically (9 teams) and the eight best runners-up will go into a series of 4 play-offs to see who get the remaining 4 places of the 13 allocated to European teams.
So the travel plans for the next two years start on Sunday night !

18 November 2007
The 2008 European Championship qualifying campaign is drawing to a close and a good number of Bangor NISC will be in Gran Canaria for the final match against Spain. After last night's glorious victory over Denmark there is stll an outside chance that the boys can make it to the finals.

16 November 2007
Members should note that the bus for the Denmark match tomorrow will leave Pickie Bowling Club at 6:00 pm sharp. The Club will be open all afternoon in preparation for departure.
As Lord Lichfield will not be there, those members who are going to Gran Canaria are asked to take as many photos as possible, especially funny or incriminating ones, and send them in to the website.
Those members not travelling to Gran Canaria have been invited to watch the Spain match in Pickie on Wednesday evening.
6 November 2007
Unfortunately, the Denmark tickets we
re not available at the meeting last night. As a result, they will be available on Thursday, 15 November in Pickie Bowling Club at 8:00 (time to be confirmed). It was also noted that not all members were forthcoming with the additional £1 owed on the Sweden tickets so this night could be used for clearing those debts.
The tickets for the away match against Spain in the Canaries should also be available on the same night. For those not going to the Canaries, there is an invitation to watch the match in the comfortable surroundings of Pickie.
It was also decided the Club will try and select a venue for at least one Club Trip in the forthcoming 2010 World Cup campaign. The draw is being made the weekend after the Spain match and the subject will be discussed at the December meeting. Hopefully we may also be planning to follow Norn Iron in Switzerland and Austria in the summer !

4 November 2007
The next meeting of the Club will take place on Monday, 5 November 2007 in Pickie Bowling Club, starting at 8:00 pm. The Agenda will include the following items:
- Distribution of Denmark tickets ; David Watson should have them by Monday night.
- Payment for Spain tickets ; £15 required from everyone who ordered them, to be paid on Monday night.
- Sweden tickets ; £1 extra required from everyone who went to Sweden as the tickets were priced incorrectly.
- Discussion about a Club Trip to the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers

28 October 2007
Following a suggestion on the forum about photos of members with funny faces or hats or both, the webmaster has trawled through the archives and created a page, in the Features section, for these Headers. There will be more unearthed over the course of time !

25 October 2007
A few more additions in the Players Photos page. Keep e-mailing stuff in.

22 October 2007
More pictures have been added from the Sweden away match and also in the Player's Photos page. There is also a Feature article about 15-year old Ross Ruberry’s dream trip to Stockholm as a guest of the Green and White Army.

21 October 2007
The first photos from the Sweden game have been added. As some of the Club members were staying in the same hotel as the team, there was an opportunity to pose with some of the players. Some of the snaps taken with Kyle Lafferty, Aaron Hughes and Sammy Clingan have been added in the Players Photos page.

19 October 2007
It is hoped to update the website over the weekend with photos from Sweden. If anyone out there has any photos or other material, please e-mail them in.

9 October 2007
Thanks to those who have sent more photos of recent matches in - sorry for not uploading them yet due to time pressures. Also noticed an article about two stalwart club members in the Daily Mirror Junior Football section - must reproduce it on here when I get the time, probably after the Sweden trip !

29 September 2007
The next meeting of the Bangor NISC takes place on Monday, 1 October 2007 at 8:00 in Pickie Bowling Club. Details of tickets for the Sweden away match will be announced.

24 September 2007
Two e-mails have been received from the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs, requesting details of experiences in Latvia and making use of coach transfers to the match against Spain in Gran Canaria.
The text of the mails are included below and anyone interested should contact Club Secretary, David Watson, on or before the meeting next Monday, 1 October 2007.

Aside from the disastrous results of these two games i'm sure most of you are aware that the relationship between the local law enforcement and the GAWA left a lot to be desired for one reason and another.
So in the interests of trying to learn from this could i ask that you contact any of your members who were at either of these two games and bring to our attention any incidents you think we should be aware of.

Hopefully you will be able to pass this on to all the secretary's of the clubs in the amalgamation.
"" Names & details & payment to be returned to me by 30th September, or sooner if possible.
If each club could co-ordinate the number of members needing a seat on a coach to the Spain game and supply me with names & which resort they will be leaving from I will be able to proceed and get the coaches booked.
The best price we could get for the coaches was £6 per head return. It is the same price from both resorts.
If they could include user names as used on the OWC site, beside any names, it may help so as I don't double book as I've been getting lots of enquiries on the site. ""
If cheques could be made out to :-- Myles Steele.

18 September 2007
More photos added to the Latvia away and Iceland away pages.

17 September 2007
More photos have been added to the Liechtenstein home and Latvia away pages. If anyone else has any photos they would like included, please e-mail them in. 14 September 2007
Some Iceland away photos have been added. Please e-mail in any other photos or contributions.

11 September 2007
First photos from Latvia away have been added. Next, it's off to Iceland for the make or break match. Please e-mail in any other photos or contributions.

5 September 2007
Those members going to Latvia should note the following advice from the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs
As you or your club members head off this weekend for the game in Latvia, we would like to remind you of the important message that we have been trying to get across to the travelling support in the run up to this trip.

The three of us, and in particular our Travel Secretary, Jim Rainey, have been in close contact with the IFA, Home Office, British Embassy in Latvia and the police here in Northern Ireland and we would emphasise that you take on board this message and that you make others aware of it.
We are not being alarmist and hope that everyone has a fantastic time, however we have a duty to pass on the advice given to us by others.
A couple of points that the Latvian police raised centred on fan behaviour and crowd control. They have strongly emphasised the need to respect the Freedom Monument and the ban on drinking in public. They will not allow fans to gather in large numbers outdoors and there will not be any 'march' to the ground, as has happened before many recent away games.
In addition to this, we would advise that you:
Use 'red' taxis and agree the fare before setting off on your journey.
Do not become separated from your friends if possible.
It is also advisable that you agree the price of a round of drinks before you purchase and pay on a round-by-round basis in order to avoid any 'scams'.
You should have received a copy of the new '12th Man Guide' which provides helpful information and contact numbers. However, we would like you to take note of the following contact numbers in the event that you or any of your members experience problems while you are away.
British Embassy - 00 371 777 4700
Jim Rainey (Travel Secretary) 07915 654 400
Gary McAllister (Press Officer) 07760 233 011
Richard McIntyre (Amalgamation Committee) 07891 765 809
David Thompson (Amalgamation Committee) 07977 438 616
If you have trouble contacting any of the above, all of whom will be in Latvia, then contact me on 07730 747 719 and I will then make the necessary call for you.
Finally, we would ask that you consider forwarding to us a contact name and number and the name of the hotel your members are based in, in the event of us needing to contact your club whilst in Riga.

Please feel free to forward this mail onto others who are travelling to the game.
Enjoy the game, stay safe and here's to another three points!
Yours,

Phil Smyth - Chairman
Jim Rainey - Travel Secretary
Gary McAllister - Press Office

13 August 2007
Thanks to Glendale GAWA for sending in his supporters profile. Keep them coming !

10 August 2007
At the August meeting, the IFA Head of Marketing and Communications, Geoff Wilson gave a very informative talk on his work at the Irish Football Association headquarters in Windsor Avenue. He outlined the progress that had been made in promoting the game to all the fans and was prepared to answer questions in an honest and forthright manner.

Afterwards Club Chairman, Alan Ferris, gave him a Club scarf as a memento of his visit.

Geoff is in an ideal position as it was obvious that was a fan of Our Wee Country and loved what he was doing. Keep up the good work !

29 July 2007
The summer break is nearly over and the Club is looking forward to the six important matches remaining in this year.
The next meeting of the club takes place on Monday, 6 August and it is hoped to provide an update on the ticket situation for the away match in Latvia.

6 July 2007
The Stadiums N. Ireland have (or will) visit page has been updated for the 3 away matches this autumn. When looking up Gran Canaria, I discovered there were two stadiums. Photos of both have been attached, but I believe the match will be played in the older, city centre ground. Can any one confirm this ?

5 July 2007
As most members may be aware, there is a continuing debate going on about the siting of the new stadium at the Maze. A report from the University of Ulster states that any new stadium should be sited in the capital city rather than out in the country.
The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) appear to have been pressurised to issue their Multi Sports Stadium Site Selection Report and this tends to confirm the view that proper consideration was not given to options other than the Maze for the siting of the stadium.
The Belfast City Council and the Green & White Army have released their views on the situation and this can be found by clicking on the links below :
Belfast Council press release
GAWA press release
These reports are in .pdf format and if you do not have Adobe Acrobat loaded on your PC, you can download the software for free by following the following link :

1 July 2007
Things are very quite at the moment. If any members are bored, they could always complete their supporters profile and e-mail it for inclusion on the site. You can download a template by clicking on the link above.

9 June 2007
Following the meeting held on 4 June, all members have been notified of all outstanding dues. A deadline of 22 June has been set for the payment of these dues.

24 May 2007
The following letter was received from the secretary of the Comber TNC NISC:
I write to invite you and all club members and any other interested parties to the below event. I have attached an invitation to the club and would appreciate it if you could put this inviatation on your website for all your club members to veiw or if you have a meeting before the 5th June could it be read out at the meeting.

'Comber TNC NISC would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend a meeting to discuss the proposed stadium development at the Maze/Long Kesh site. This meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th June at Comber Recreational Football Club, from 8pm.
Through our dedication to supporting our national team, we have travelled throughout Europe to watch our heroes and had the privilege of witnessing some truly magnificent stadiums, for example the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. This has also afforded us the opportunity to witness how stadiums should not be built, e.g. Enrst Happel Stadium Austria, and provided an insight into how a stadium at the Maze/Long Kesh may turn out to be a 'White Elephant'.
Our members are dismayed at the continued push for the Maze/Long Kesh site due to purely political reasons. It is our belief that the best interests of the sports involved, and indeed the fans, are not being considered due to reasons that lie beyond the control of the sporting fraternity.
As a supporters club, we cannot stand by and watch the future of our national team be put into jeopardy. We do not want another Millennium Dome on our doorsteps. We do not want to be dragging our children/grand-children to a soulless stadium in the middle of nowhere in ten year's time.
Therefore, we have asked the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Club to prepare a presentation on the subject and provide us with the opportunity to pose our questions. As football supporters in our local community, we request your presence to ensure your thoughts and concerns are heard.
If you have any questions about this meeting, please contact Neil Dines or Andrew Rodgers (contact details below).

Members are reminded that the next meeting of the Club will not be on 7 May, as it is a Bank Holiday, and will be held on 14 May.
Members should note that the Club Treasurer has been checking his accounts and that anyone with outstanding debts will be given notice in the May meeting. These debts will have to be cleared by the June meeting or the offenders may risk suspension.

20 April 2007
A good evening was had by all who attended the Civic Reception at Bangor Town Hall on Thursday 19. The event was well attended by Club members and North Down Councillors.
After a finger buffet, the Mayor made a short speech and this was followed by a pictorial presentation on two plasma screens, with images from the Club Trip to Bregenz.
The impressive presentation was prepared by Megan McCreedy, daughter of Colin. It was well received despite sound not being available due to technical difficulties.
Opportunity was also taken to inform the assembled Councillors of the Clubs views on the Maze stadium issue.
A page with photographs will be uploaded later

18 April 2007
Apologies for the site being unavailable over the past couple of days - this was due to technical difficulties (caused by the webmaster).
And members are given their final reminder about the Civic reception on Thursday.

Hopefully they will appear over the Easter Holidays !

1 April 2007
Two pages of Club Trip photos showing images of the journey out and Club Dinner on 23 March 2007 and the Supporters Match and presentation Lunch on the 24 March 2007 have been added. There is still room for more if any members care to send them in.

31 March 2007

Thanks to those guys who have already sent photos in, including the group view at the top of the page. They will be uploaded as time permits.
In the meantime, please keep on sending them in.

26 March 2007
Just back from Bregenz, where the first Club trip proved to be a tremendous success.
Bangor Northern Ireland Supporters Club would like to thank the people of Bregenz, especially their representative Monika Rojer, for their hospitality during the Club trip over the weekend 23-25 March 2007.
To show their appreciation, the members organised a collection which raised €250 which was presented to Frau Rojer to donate to a charity of her choice.

26 March 2007
The first photographs from the trip have been uploaded onto a Bregenz Club Trip Images page in the features section. Hopefully there were many photographs taken by members on the trip and the club would be grateful if these were forwarded to the webmaster for inclusion on the site.

20 March 2007
The official invitation from North Down Borough Council for a Civic Reception on Thursday, 19 April 2007, has been received. To view the invitation in full size, click on the link.

16 March 2007
The final details for the Club Trip to the Liechtenstein are falling into place. The final number in the Official Party is 95.
A meeting for those travelling has been called for Tuesday, 20 March 2007 in Pickie Bowling Club, starting at 8:00 pm. At this meeting the travel packs, polo shirts and match tickets will be handed out so if anyone can’t make it, please ensure that their packs are collected by a mate.

16 March 2007
The fact that the Club trip is being based in Bregenz, Austria, which is Bangor’s twin town, has been officially acknowledged by North Down Borough Council. Last Thursday, 15 March, the Mayor, Councillor Alan Leslie invited members of the organizing committee to his chamber for a chat about the trip.
It turns out that the Mayor is an avid football fan and had on show some football memorabilia, including quite a few Northern Ireland programmes. He presented the members with some presents, including a fine town crest, to present to our hosts in Austria.
He also invited all the members of the club to a Civic Reception in Bangor Town Hall on the evening of Thursday, 19 April 2007. the Club representatives agreed to put together a pictorial presentation for the occasion, so all those travelling are encouraged to take as many photographs as possible to enable a comprehensive representation of the trip to be put together.
To reflect the links between the towns of Bangor and Bregenz, a badge commemorating the links between the two towns has been incorporated onto the polo shirts commissioned especially for the trip.

9 March 2007
An additional meeting has been arranged for those travelling on the Club Trip to Bregenz. The full itinerary with travel details and merchandise will be handed out at this meeting. It has been provisionally arranged for Tuesday, 20 March. Members will be informed of details by text message.

9 March 2007
It looks like a supporters match in Bregenz will go ahead. The game will be half an hour each way and is one of the activities being organised by Bregenz council (see the Bregenz Page for the updated itinerary).
Rodney Ferris has been appointed Team Manager, for his sins.

9 March 2007

2 March 2007
The next meeting of the Club takes place on Monday, 5 March in Pickie Bowling Club, starting at 8:00 pm. This was to have been the last meeting before the Club Trip to the Liechtenstein match but due to the late delivery of polo shirts and the finalising of the itinerary, there will be another - this has been provisionally arranged for the Monday before the trip, 19 March.
The ballot is also being drawn, and all members are reminded to bring their stubs.

19 February 2007
The logo for the Bregenz / Liechtenstein trip has been finalised and hopefully should adorn the polo shirts being produced for all those travelling.

19 February 2007
Many thanks to Gary who sent in a few more photos from the Wales match.

6 February 2007
Another successful AGM, with 64 members in attendance.
Unfortunately Billy Hamilton had to cancel at the last moment due to a family illness, but Gary McAllister of the Amalgamation of NISC stood in as guest speaker
More details to follow
. . .
2 February 2007
Bangor NISC is pleased to announce that Billy Hamilton will be Guest of Honour at the Annual General Meeting on Monday, 5 February.
Billy, of course, is best remembered by Northern Ireland fans as the man who crossed the ball for Gerry Armstrong to score for Northern Ireland in their famous win against the hosts Spain at the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
In total, Billy played 41 games, scoring 5 goals, for his country.
2 February 2007
Members are reminded that the draw for the Ballot is less than a month away and that they should make every effort to sell their quota.

29 January, 2007
Due to an Indoor Bowling competition being held in Pickie bowling Club Monday, 5 February 2007, the same evening as 3rd. Annual General Meeting, there were concerns that the small meeting room at Pickie would be unable to cater for the large number of members expected.
The Club Committee were fortunate to secure an alternative venue in the shape of the CD Club, in Victoria Road, close to the Bangor seafront.
The Club would like to extend their thanks to the CD Club for accommodating us at such short notice and would like to apologise to members for any confusion caused by this late change of venue.

21 January 2007
The next meeting of the Club will be the 3rd. Annual General Meeting on Monday, 5 February 2007 in Pickie Bowling Club.
As the main hall is unavailable due to an indoor bowling tournament, members are advised to get down well before the 8:00 pm start if they want to get a seat !
In advance of the meeting, members are asked to review the rules and forward any proposed changes to the Secretary in advance of the meeting. Details are elsewhere on this website.
Members should also note that tickets for the Wales friendly will be available at this meeting.

21 January 2007
The Club Trip to Bregenz for the Liechtenstein match is approaching fast and more arrangements are falling into place.
It has been decided that those on the trip will have to make a contribution of £90 (£60 for juniors) to cover the coast of bed & breakfast, a meal on arrival and the commemorative polo shirt. Guests will also have to pay an additional £17 per match ticket, which is free for members.
This payment is due at, or before, the March meeting.

21 January 2007
Following the election of half a dozen new members at the meeting held on 15 January, the Club has reached a milestone in that it now has over 100 full members, including 4 overseas ones.
The Club also has 17 junior members and the new committee elected at the AGM will be looking at ways to integrate them more into the workings of the club.
This milestone does not mean that quantity is more important than quality, and the Club will not be afraid to shed any members who are in arrears or do not show an interest in attending meetings and participating in Club activities.

14 January 2007
Members should note there will be an additional meeting this Monday in Pickie Bowling Club, starting at 8:00 pm.
The following items will be included on the Agenda:
- Election of new members
- Details regarding the Liechtenstein Club Trip
- New method of subsidising away match tickets
- Preparation for the Annual General Meeting on 5 February
- Arrangements for the Wales Home match on 6 February
- Any Other Business

9 January 2007
We have just been informed that new baggage fees and rules will apply to the Aer Lingus Dublin to Zurich leg of the Club Trip to Bregenz in March.
There will be a charge for every bag checked in for each flight. The fee will be 4 Euro if paid in advance online available or 8 Euro for every bag checked in on day of departure.
However, there is no charge for Cabin Baggage up to a maximum of 1 Bag per passenger, weighing no more than 6 kgs.
As a result of the above, the Club Committee would recommend that all those travelling on this flight should bring only hand baggage to both save money, and speed up the time spent in airports.

1 January 2007
A new year begins and it’s going to be a very busy one for the Bangor NISC. There will be an additional meeting in January to finalise arrangements for the Club trip to The Liechtenstein, based in Bregenz, Austria. The AGM in February will be immediately followed by a home friendly against Wales. March will see the Club trip followed by a midweek match at home to Sweden. There is a possibility of a friendly in June and the second half of the year will see a flurry of matches starting with the home tie against Liechtenstein in August and finishing with the trip to Spain in November. Hopefully as many members as possible will get to the many away matches this year.

Resolutions for the 2007 include a determination to get meetings to start on time, bus for Windsor to leave on time and hopefully more members will start contributing to the website to make it even better. Onwards and upwards.
