Bangor NISC and Football For All the I.F.A.s Community Relations Programme present

“Green and White Army, The Fans Story”

with a question and answer forum at Bangor Leisure Centre, Main Hall on

Monday 19th October 2009 at 7:45pm.

Northern Ireland fans have worked hard to become the best fans in Europe, winning the Brussels International Supporters Award in 2006. It has been a long journey from the days of sectarian chants to creating a welcoming and family orientated atmosphere at international games.

A film developed by the Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs and Football For All called “Green and White Army, the Fans Story” tells the story of this journey, chronicling the Fans efforts to eradicate sectarianism within international football and how they developed innovative and creative activities to make the atmosphere more safe, welcoming and family orientated.

The film shows not only the benefits of a shared future, but also how volunteers can make significant changes to Northern Ireland society.
The DVD has been shown in Parliament Buildings at Stormont, and copies presented to Nigel Worthington and the Northern Ireland squad.

Bangor NISC and Football For All invite you to watch the film on Monday 19th October 2009 at 7:45 in Bangor Leisure Centre. Admission is free and a good turnout is expected.

It should also be noted that a special screening for school children wil be held in the afternoon. Invitations have been sent out to all local schools.

All are welcome. There is no charge for admission.

On a seperate matter, NI Friends of Israel are about to launch our auction of signed football shirts in aid of football schemes bringing communities together both in Israel and Northern Ireland. Just before the Israel friendly match on 12 August 2009, Clandeboye Park in Bangor was the venue for a fans match between a team of random Northern Ireland supporters and the Friends of Israel.
The pictures below are reproduced from the local Spectator Newspaper.

While a member of the Bangor NISC was officiating at the match, it is unclear if any members were actually playing, although some were spotted jumping aimlessly in the air.

19 August,2009
The next meeting has been brought forward to Monday, 31 August 2009 to discuss final details for the Poland club trip.
It should also be noted that tickets for this match are priced at £30 and all those attending must pay this money at the above meeting.

11 July, 2009
Those members travelling to the Poland will be pleased to know that all the arrangements are falling into place after all the hassle caused by the change in venue.

The party will leave the Gold Coast by coach in the (very) early hours of Friday, 4 September, to travel to Dublin for the morning flight to Krakow in Poland. A coach will be on hand to transport the group to our hotel on the outskirts of Katowice, with expected arrival just before 2:00 pm.

A coach will depart from the Hotel about 5:30 pm for the short journey to the stadium and also provide a transfer back to the hotel after the match.
The following morning, the coach will leave for the airport at 9:00 am and if all goes well, the party will arrive back in Dublin just after 2:00 pm which means they should be back on the Gold Coast just before teatime on the Sunday.

On the Saturday, a guided tour to Auschwitz concentration camp museum has been organised for those interested. A coach will pick up those attending at 9:00 am for the 1 hour transfer and there will be a 3½ hour guided tour before a return to base for about 2:30.
There will be an additional charge of about £20 - £25 for the Auschwitz trip and all those going to Poland should let Peter know on the 3 August meeting if they intend to go to Auschwitz or not as any spare spaces could be offered to other fans travelling.

8 July, 2009

versus

Wednesday evening, 15 July 2009, sees the battle of the Bangor (Gold Coast) NISC members down in Millisle when the local team Abbey Villa play Bangor FC. The recent successes of Abbey Villa have been chronicled in other parts of this website and the Amateur League club can count many members of Bangor NISC amongst their Committee (including Chairman Gary Pitman), Team Management (including joint Managers Mark and Graham Bailie), Players, Supporters, Sponsors and Water Carriers.
Many members of the NISC also support, and help out, Irish League Championship side Bangor FC, including David Watson, Maurice Beattie and Peter Vannucci who have recently joined the Board.
It should be an interesting and sporting evening down at Adams Park where the kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm (to be confirmed). The banter should be good.

15 June, 2009
Most of the guys going on the Club Trip to Poland have managed to get their flights transferred from Berlin to Krakow. In both cases, 2 coaches will return immediately after the match to make enough room for those who go up to Belfast early.

19 March, 2009
Due to problems with the previous version, a new Guest Book has been introduced. Don't know the proper jargon, but this new Book is integrated into the Bangor NISC website and should be easier to use.
The design is still being tinkered with and hopefully it will provide a better service than the previous version.
Next in line is figuring out how to get a new forum up & running and maybe a chat room !

18 March, 2009
